National Tourism Plan


The 2007/2010 National Tourism Plan – PNT– A Journey towards Inclusion is a planning and management instrument which places tourism as an inducer of development and of jobs and income generation in Brazil. The Plan is the result of the consensus by all tourism segments involved in the common objective of transforming the activity into an important mechanism for the improvement of Brazil and an important inducer of social inclusion. An inclusion that may be achieved by two ways: the production one through the creation of new job positions, occupation and income and that of consumption with the absorption of new tourists in the internal market.

200/2010 PNT advances in the perspective of expansion and strengthening of internal market, with special emphasis to the social function of tourism. But it is also a commitment to the continuity of actions already developed by the Ministry of Tourism and by EMBRATUR in the sense of consolidating Brazil as one of the main world tourism destinations. In addition to be an assurance that the government actions initiated will have continuity.

More than a letter of intent, it is an instrument of strategic action, with its macro programs and goals well defined to the next four years. The National Tourism Plan has the commitment of presenting to the country, on a consolidated and systematic way the National Tourism Policy.

The strengthening of the domestic market will enable the generation of 1.7 million job in the sector up to 2010, in addition to increase to 217 million the number of domestic market trips. The investments in infrastructure and professional qualification will allow the organization of 65 tourism destinations, distributed throughout the national territory, within an international market pattern. This will allow the ingress of US$7.7 billion as foreign currency to Brazil.

The 20072010 National Tourism Plan also translates the contributions of tourism to the 2007/2010 Growth Acceleration Plan, with the alignment of its respective actions.

Strengthening domestic tourism, promoting tourism as a factor of regional development, assuring the access of retired citizens, workers and students to travel packages under easier conditions, investing in the professional qualification and in the job and income generation and assuring additional conditions to the promotion of Brazil abroad are some of the actions that make the 2007/2010 National Tourism Plan an important inducer to development and social inclusion.
