Ministério do Turismo
The Tourism International Relations Department plans, coordinates and supports the MTur (Ministry of Tourism) activities at international organizations and monitors the Ministry’s performance in the trading of commercial agreements or of international technical cooperation, in order to strengthen domestic tourism at the world market.
General Coordination of Multilateral Relations
This coordination comprehends relations with the non-South-America countries and also with international organizations. The main working tool is the technical cooperation, either bilateral or multilateral.
The Multilateral Technical Cooperation is accomplished with international organizations such as the World Tourism Organization (WTO). The Bilateral Technical Cooperation is always developed between two countries and is formalized through agreements, for the members’ mutual benefit, through the exchange of experiences. Therefore, agreements have been worked up along the last four years with countries such as China, South Africa, Tunisia, Panama, India, Jordan, Portugal, Cuba, Syria, Ecuador and Spain.
General Coordination of South-American Relations
CGRS (General Coordination of South-American Relations) is the branch of the Department responsible for the whole South America and, more specifically, by the Mercosur. Actions are developed with the objective of increasing the relationship among the South-American countries and, as a consequence, contributing to make tourism a strategic subject, which allows the continent’s social and economic development, in addition to enlarging the international prestige by improving the position of its image at the world tourism market.
The Coordination of subjects related to migration and borders are also the responsibility of the Coordination, acting together with other government and civil society units. It works with the international service negotiations not only in the ambit of Mercosur but also in other multilateral institutions.
